Cash for Pirate Bay file-sharers
The new owners of file-sharing website The Pirate Bay say users will be paid for sharing files.

Global Gaming Factory (GGF) paid 60m kronor (£4.7m) to take over the site.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC, GGF's Hans Pandeya said that the only way to beat illegal file-sharing was to make something more attractive.

"We are going to set up a system where the file-sharer actually makes money," he said.

According to Mr Pandeya, GGF's chief executive, the business model for The Pirate Bay would be that it continued to be a file-sharing site. The only difference - at least in terms of content - would be that the files would be hosted legally, rather than stolen from copyright holders.

"We're a listed company so everything we do has to be legal; content providers need to be paid and have their wishes and demands met," he said.

EnemyDown is back!
Quoted from the EnemyDown web page. -

Enemy Down was founded as a community site. Even when it became a more commercial, the staff and admins have worked hard to keep it at it's roots.

Now for the bit you may (or may not) be expecting after the leak on Cadred's forums last night. We've reopened the old site. You'll find enemydown.co.uk points to the older site, and enemydown.eu points to the new site.

We know you're not happy with the new site and we have recognised the fact that the ladders that you love and enjoy are not working to the high standard you've come to expect. We screwed up. So much so, that we've taken this drastic step.

For this mistake, I would like to say on behalf of everyone here at TNWA that we truly sorry. We hope this step works towards repairing the distrust and dislike that this has caused.

None of the data as it was a few weeks ago has changed. The site was frozen in time when we shut it down. We just thawed it out. So you can get back to playing in ladders and open challenges.

Don't worry about how the data looks on enemydown.eu for your clan/ladder for now. We'll have to come back to it and work out how to properly, rather than haphazardly, migrate the data across.

Once again, please accept out apologies for this. If you find things aren't quite working since the thawing, please let us know via the normal channels.

Icarus.

Left 4 Dead Boycott!

Left4Dead 2 will feature 4 new survivors. The Valve title will be out on November 17th, 2009. More information on L4D 2 in the extended post.

In a related note, 16,000 people have signed a petition boycotting the release of the title. They say, 'too soon!' You can check out the boycott group Here. Valve says, 'not to worry' and to expect more downloadable content for L4D.

enemydown.co.uk is now closed forever!
Everyone is sad about the closure of enemydown.co.uk (I would link but it doesn't exist anymore) but, as we've already mentioned, her time has come and gone. Over the past seven years the site has been a veteran workhorse who went far above and beyond her duty. She was a ship designed for only a thousand and didn't complain when we asked her to handle over 200 times more. Unfortunately, with that kind of popularity issues arise, mainly security but also problems with functionality and overall service. Hence the time has come for enemydown.co.uk's sleek and sexy younger sister to take over and take ED to new heights.

I tried to write a haiku about the end of ed.co.uk but just could not do the site justice. Instead, I went to the trusty ED forums and asked users to give their thoughts on the closure of the site and the sentiment was clear; the old ED will be missed but we all knew it was coming.
