| Davina: Big Brother is ending |
| Davina McCall has revealed that Channel 4 reality series Big Brother is coming to an end. The presenter, who has hosted the show since it started back in 2000, said: "It's definitely only got two years left." This year's Big Brother will be the 10th anniversary series of the show and it is believed that Channel 4 will not renew its current contract when it runs out next year. The new series, which begins later this month, faces an uphill struggle for viewers as last year's Big Brother had the lowest-ever viewing figures. Audiences for the 2008 series averaged just 3.2 million viewers, while critics claimed that the show had lost its spark. The glory days of Big Brother, which produced stars such as Nasty Nick, Nadia and Jade Goody, now seem well and truly over. Can you even remember who won last year's show? Go on, have a go. We think the end of Big Brother can't come soon enough. The show, which was once must-see viewing, has become little more than a four month long snooze-fest which exists for the purpose of spewing out a couple of z-list celebs for Heat magazine at the end. Maybe you disagree? Will you be sad to see the end of Big Brother? Let us know what you think... I for one say: "Thank god!" |
| Clan News May Update |
![]() Hello, all. This will just be a brief of some of the many things that have been happening over the months. Donations - Don't say 'god sake he's on about that again??' Well I'm sorry but it has to be done. Every member of the clan uses features which costs that big bag with a dollar sign on it - Money! No one likes parting with their money and not everyone has that much money to spend which is why donations are purely encouraged not enforced. Again for this month we have failed our monthly quota for donation income. If this continues we may need to cut off / reduce our services we can provide Remember every little bit helps us reach our goals and every one of you uses the services provided. Clan Funding information can be found here: [Clicky Me] Please look at it and realise where and how much money is going places. Clan Progression - Grim and his band of merry Battlefield 2142 men have slowly been pushing their way up the BF2142 Infantry Europe ladder whilst been discussing what direction the 2DEATH team should take next given the apparent dying nature of the game in the European ladders, coming up with the possibility of entering American ladders (to much delight of our American comrade, Kyouteki.) Counter-Strike: Source has been fighting with reality also, being that 90% of Source players are arseholes who have no patience or morals and the other 10% have social lives it has been a struggle to get new members. However CSS has not been standing still! We have been fighting the good fight in 2v2 ladders, the solid undefeated team of Quagmire and Gray have been pushing their way up the ladder slowly but surely biting at the bigger fish in the pond and are currently on a 3 game win streak. Recruitment - For both divisions we are indeed still recruiting so I encourage everyone to keep a sharp eye out for prospective new players to join us. If you are reading this and are not part of 2DEATH and are interested in joining the ranks, please visit this page: [Clicky Me] Old Man Status?! - Our own G.Grim is leaving his 20's to join the league of 30 year olds! On the 16th of May there will be Paintballing then a night on the town! (Conciousness not guaranteed!) And if you make it through the night Grim even invites you to stay over at his place! Thanks for reading, Quagmire - 2DEATH Management Team. |
| The World's Most Influential Person Is... |
![]() In a stunning result, the winner of the third annual TIME 100 poll and new owner of the title World's Most Influential Person is moot. The 21-year-old college student and founder of the online community 4chan.org, whose real name is Christopher Poole, received 16,794,368 votes and an average influence rating of 90 (out of a possible 100) to handily beat the likes of Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and Oprah Winfrey. To put the magnitude of the upset in perspective, it's worth noting that everyone moot beat out actually has a job. Since moot launched 4chan.org in 2003, the site has given birth to Internet memes as diverse as Lolcats and Rickrolling. 4chan averages 13 million page views a day and 5.6 million visitors a month; by some estimates it is the second largest bulletin board in the world. (See the TIME 100 finalists.) For proof of moot's influence on the Web, one need look no further than the TIME 100 poll results. While Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao got a larger vote total (20,391,818), the runner-up for the title of World's Most Influential Person, Malaysian politician Anwar Ibrahim, received a mere 47 on the influence scale. Moot denies knowing about any concerted plan by his followers to influence the poll, though TIME.com's technical team did detect and extinguish several attempts to hack the vote. (See the full results here.) Undoubtedly, many people will question moot's worthiness of the title World's Most Influential Person. TIME.com managing editor Josh Tyrangiel says moot is no less deserving than previous title holders like Nintendo video-game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (2007) and Korean pop star Rain (2006). "I would remind anyone who doubts the results that this is an Internet poll," he says. "Doubting the results is kind of the point." See a video on the TIME 100 moot vs. Rain showdown: [Clicky Me] |
